The conference aims to facilitate an operational and practical dialogue amongst various stakeholders like the government, industry organizations, industry, NGO, research institutions etc, from Europe and Asia (by organizing a working conference) highlighting the role of industrial networks on environment and micro regional sustainability.

The focused thematic areas to be covered in the conference will include:

  1. Industrial Ecology
  2. Resource Conservation
  3. Bi-product utilization
  4. Waste Management
  5. Waste/Bi-product utilization
  6. Industrial Parks
  7. Regional environmental Planning

Some of the other broad areas / themes that would be addressed in the conference will include:

  • Need and demand for cleaner technology transfer (Europe to Asia) and joint technology development to enhance the resource efficiency of these networks,
  • Facilitation of systems to adopt Best Practices from Europe to Asia
  • Focus and structure of information and experience exchange Networks,
  • Capacity development needs & approaches and priority target groups,
  • Need to integrate environmental policy and regional planning – instruments and approaches,
  • Means to maintain continuity of efforts and areas for future intervention
 
 
Expected Results

 
 
A cross sectoral policy recommendation and strategy document will be developed to extend the project experiences to other micro regions with similar industry networks as were selected in this project and to other industry sectors. The document will also highlight the needs for the technology change / development and transfer / adaptation for the selected Industry networks.
